The temple of Mother Annapurna is located at just beside the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. There is a beautiful idol of Mother Annapurna is installed in this temple. Mother Annapurna is Goddess of food. It is believed that there is no shortage of food in life if we worship Mother Annapurna daily. Story of mother Annapurna:
It is said that once there was a shortage of food on the earth. There was an outcry on its people. At that time people worshiped Tridev and prayed to remove the food crisis. It is believed that after that Mother Parvati reached the earth with Lord Shiva. After which Mother Parvati took the form of Mother Annapurna and donated food to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva distributed that food among the people of the earth. Then the food crisis ended from the earth.
Golden statue of Mother Annapurneshwari:
Devotees visit the golden statue of Mother Annapurneshwari on Dhanteras. Only four days in a year from Dhanteras to Annakoot, this form of Goddess is visible to the devotees. Rice, paddy slag and coin (Athanni) are given to the visitors as treasures of the mother. This coin is no less than Kubera for the devotees. It is believed that any devotee who finds this treasure of the goddess keeps it in his locker. The grace of the goddess of treasure remains on him and there is no shortage of money and grains. This is the reason why devotees from all over the country come to Kashi for the darshan of this treasure goddess and the treasure offerings. Long queues of devotees are seen in the temple premises from morning till evening. On other days the symbolic idol installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is worshipped.
